Sedation for Nervous Patients

Many patients are anxious about having a dental procedure done and consider themselves to be nervous patients. Some patients can be quite scared when it comes to visiting a dentist and may suffer from a condition called dental phobia. This can restrict people from obtaining the treatment they need and can suffer from long term, chronic dental conditions as a result.

Intravenous sedation is administered via injection and monitored throughout your treatment. The sedation relaxes patients and they maintain awareness of their surroundings and are in a position to talk with the dentist while the procedure is taking place. Intravenous sedation is a superior option to general anaesthesia as patients can feel more in control of their treatment. Procedures such as minor dental surgery and tooth extractions can be done painlessly and without causing patient anxiety.
